Parent Advocate
Experienced parents of special needs children possess a wealth of knowledge and insight gained through navigating the complexities of raising a child with unique requirements. Recognizing the challenges faced by new parents in understanding school district programs and options for their special needs children, these seasoned parents can offer invaluable support through volunteering.
By sharing their firsthand experiences, these volunteers can guide and mentor new parents, helping them navigate the intricate landscape of educational resources, specialized services, and support networks. Advocates even attend IEP meetings at the request of the parents. Their empathetic understanding fosters a sense of community, providing a lifeline for those embarking on a similar journey.
Our experienced parents can contribute their time, expertise, and encouragement, creating a supportive environment where new parents feel empowered and equipped to advocate for their children within the educational system. This volunteer effort not only eases the transition for new families but also fosters a sense of solidarity and resilience within the special needs community.
